PROPERTY QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Moving from a rented, template-driven web presence to an owned digital property raises practical questions. Here are the answers we hear most often from established operators.

What exactly is a digital property?

A digital property is the owned web infrastructure surrounding your business: your website, code, domain, hosting environment, content structure, conversion paths, and supporting systems. Instead of treating your online presence as a temporary page-builder subscription, we build it as a durable business asset designed around the operation you already have.

Do I need a completely new website?

Not necessarily. We start by appraising what you already have. If the existing property has useful content, search equity, or a workable structure, we can redevelop it rather than starting from zero. If the foundation is holding the business back, we can recommend a new property built around the current operation.

Do I own the website and the code?

Your digital property is built around your business rather than locking you into a proprietary page-builder ecosystem. Your domain, business content, and commissioned website assets remain yours. The exact ownership and transfer terms for any third-party services or licensed components are defined in your agreement.

Why move away from a page-builder?

Page-builders can be useful for getting started, but established businesses often outgrow their limitations. A custom property gives us greater control over performance, structure, user experience, integrations, technical SEO, and future development. The goal is not simply to make the site look better—it is to build infrastructure that fits the business.

How long does a new property take to build?

Timeline depends on the size and complexity of the property. A focused Foundation can often move from approved scope to launch within several business days, while a larger Residence or custom Estate requires more planning, content, integrations, and testing. Your expected timeline is established before development begins.

What happens to my existing search visibility?

We treat existing search visibility as an asset worth protecting. For redesigns and migrations, we review existing URLs, important pages, metadata, content, redirects, and other relevant signals before launch. No responsible developer can guarantee a specific search ranking, but the migration is structured to minimize avoidable disruption.

Is hosting and security included?

Yes. Our managed property plans include the infrastructure required to keep your website online and maintained, including managed hosting, SSL configuration, monitoring, and backups. The exact infrastructure and service level depend on the property and plan you select.

Can you handle ongoing updates after launch?

Yes. Ongoing stewardship can include routine content changes, service updates, image swaps, technical maintenance, security work, performance monitoring, and other agreed property updates. The included maintenance level depends on your selected plan.

What if my business needs something beyond a normal website?

That is where The Estate comes in. We can engineer custom systems around your operation, including booking workflows, client portals, databases, internal tools, multi-location structures, integrations, and other specialized infrastructure. The scope is determined through a technical consultation.

Can I change plans as my business grows?

Yes. Your digital property should be able to grow with the operation. If your needs change, we can review the current infrastructure and determine whether an existing plan, additional service, redevelopment, or a larger property tier makes the most sense.
